Egypt's Minister of Petroleum has announced that there are significant resources, in that part of the desert, which may open up new horizons and allow for an increase in reserves and in the country's oil production

New oil explorations in the Western region of the Egyptian desert are encouraging. The statement came from the Egyptian Minister of Petroleum Tariq Al-Mulla, as quoted by the newspaper “al Masry al Youm". During a meeting with representatives of the petroleum company Badr El-Din, the minister said that the surveys on geological strata open up new prospects for research and exploration activities and for the country’s hydrocarbon reserves. "There are new areas that, for the first time, will undergo geological explorations and we believe that the results will be encouraging and will open up new horizons for an increase in domestic oil and gas reserves and production", said Al-Mulla.
