Following the lifting of the sanctions, Iran continues its “comeback‘ into the international scene. In fact, a few days ago, the director of Iran’s Environmental Protection Organization, Masoumeh Ebtekar met in Teheran with the EU Climate Action and Energy Commissioner, Miguel Arias Canete, to discuss the developments of a multilateral cooperation.
Ebtekar highlighted the importance of climate change and its impact on the state of the region and of the world and added that Iran has also been affected by these changes. Ebtekar said that, considering the extraterritorial nature of the issue and its impact on the state of the region, it is necessary that also the other countries and entities such as the European Union, help Iran to face these issues. So, while on the one hand Iran continues it’s road towards a “comeback‘ in the international market, on the other the environmental issues have made their way into the country’s agenda.
