New technologies, sustainability and the cutting edge will be the focus of the upcoming Offshore Mediterranean Conference, which will be held in Ravenna on 29-21 March. This year's edition will once again host a prestigious contest offering opportunities to young researchers

The Offshore Mediterranean Conference will begin in Ravenna on 29 March. Since 1993, the event has divulged the science of open sea technologies with the participation of engineers, technicians and firms active in the sector, promoting the responsible and sustainable use of the Mediterranean Sea’s energy resources. Over the years, foreign universities have taken a growing interest in the conference, and in the SPE Paper Contest in particular, which offers MScs and PhDs a valuable opportunity to introduce themselves to the major players of the petroleum industry at the sector’s most prestigious international event. This year, following particularly numerous applications, including from the UK and Germany, the registration deadline for participation in the SPE OMC 2017 Student Paper Contest has been moved to 15 January 2017, by which time eligible graduates may present their research on topics pertinent to the oil & gas sector. In order to register, applicants just need to send an abstract (with title) of no more than 300 words detailing their research activities by 15 January. A panel of experts will evaluate the abstracts and select the best three in each category.
