Japan interested in Alaska LNG

A $30 million investment is expected for the state. Among the main companies interested is Resource Energy

Alaska would like to lower construction costs for one of its main pipeline, the AKLNG, by reviewing current partnerships some of which are considered too expensive on the distribution front. In light of this an interesting offer has come in from a Japanese energy company, Resource Energy, ready to offer lower prices on LNG. State authorties have confirmed that the market is experiencing demand problem for natural gas, with a high amount of excess supply at the moment which has caused the main oil companies - like BP, ConocoPhillips and ExxonMobil - to pull investments from infrastructure that is too expensive. While Japanese oil companies, according the Alaskan state sources, have $30 million ready to invest in the state’s LNG.
