The new well of the gas field located in the Egyptian offshore is 1,538 m in depth and 12 Km Southwest of the original Zohr 1X well

The Italian company has announced that Zohr 5x, the fifth well on the Zohr structure has been successfully drilled. The drilling confirmed the presence of a carbonatic reservoir and gas accumulation also in the South-Western part of the Zohr mega-structure encountering about 590 ft (180 metres) of a continuous hydrocarbon column of gas in the rock – reservoir with excellent properties, confirming the potential of the Zohr Field at 850 bcm. The data collected during the test confirmed the great capacity of the Zohr rock reservoir, in line with the Zohr. The well is limited by the surface infrastructure of the plant, has yielded over 1.5 mcm/day of gas. In the production configuration, the well is estimated to deliver up to 7 mcm/day of gas  (about 46.000 boe/day) . The drilling campaign on Zohr will continue in 2016 with the drilling of the sixth well that will ensure the accelerated start up production.
