Continue along the path towards the full implementation of the COP21 agreements signed in Paris: This the theme central to the works of the G20, to be held in Beijing, 29th and 30th June. On the agenda the goals to be achieved by 2020, from decarbonising to the use of innovative technologies that might facilitate system innovation in the field of energy. Global economic growth cannot be separated from the increase in the share of renewables in the global energy mix, making the planet evermore independent from fossil fuels. Overall the G20 covers two-thirds of the world population, accounts for over 90% of the world GDP, 80% of trade and over 80% of primary energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. The G20 countries can play a key role in ensuring access to sustainable energy by constantly improving their performance in energy efficiency.
