The country has passed Nigeria, which has seen a large drop in production also due to attacks on oil platforms by the Niger Delta Avengers

With an average of around 1.77 million b/d, Angola reconfirms itself as Africa’s main oil producer for the second trimester of 2016. The data is from a recent report by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). Following Angola, in second place with 1.53 million b/d, is Nigeria, a country that has seen a large drop in production also due to attacks on oil platforms by  the Niger Delta Avengers. This will not the first time that Abuja will have "give up first place", in fact, already in November 2015, Angola had already taken the lead with a production of 1.722 million b/d compared to Nigeria’s 1.607 million b/d.
