The Southern Gas Corridor is one of the priority energy projects supported by the EU and involving transporting gas supplies from the Caspian Sea region to European countries through Georgia and Turkey. In the initial phase the gas will come from the Azerbaijani Shah Deniz field, but subsequently new sources of supply can be connected. The gas will reach Europe thanks to the two sections of the Corridor that will connect to the South Caucasus gas pipeline, ie the trans-Anatolian (Tanap) and trans-Adriatic (Tap) gas pipelines.
